Antique Music Cabinets

Antique music cabinets are collector’s items that are seen in movies a lot but not seen a lot in the personal collections of the average antique collector. Antique music cabinets are just like normal antique cabinets but they have four or five drawers arranged in a vertical orientation that are designed for holding sheet music. When the great classical composers of the European renaissance and the periods after hand-wrote their symphonies down on sheet music, it was these music cabinets that they used for storage of the music. Antique music cabinets are therefore historical throwbacks to that time.

As far as antique items go, antique music cabinets are perhaps amongst the most expensive items you will encounter because of their relative rarity. Many other antique cabinets were used on a daily basis by people decades or even centuries ago and therefore are rather numerous, but antique music cabinets were special use items only and for that reason there are much fewer of them in the world today.
